Reality Check Program is now approved and accepted by the Brevard County Courts for pretrial diversion programs and for misdemeanors and low level offense plea offers. This live program is for offenders with no prior convictions or when charges filed are eligible for diversion programs, pre-trial intervention, drug court, and other alternate consequences – check with your attorney. The Brevard Courts will divert appropriate offenders to the Reality Check Program.

The Reality Check Program helps adults and juveniles see where they are headed if they keep making bad choices. Understanding what the prison system is REALLY like opens eyes. It's about choices and making good decisions.

Larry Lawton is the Founder and President of Lawton911 and the Reality Check Program DVD. A recognized expert on teen and young adult issues and the negative affect prison have on an individual. Larry is a certified paralegal, motivational speaker and ex-con with extensive knowledge of the C.F.R. (Code of Federal Regulations).

TRIALS: As an expert witness in cases involving drugs, robberies, assaults, white collar crimes, etc., the jurors hear from an expert witness that a person's past does matter. We all know the way a testimony is given is very important. Jurors connect with Larry and might believe your client is not guilty or at the very least, less culpable.

SENTENCING: Larry's expertise gives the Judge a reason to depart from the sentencing guidelines. When asked what affect a prison sentence will have on an individual, the Judge gets a different perspective and can make a better determination on what the proper sentence should be. At the very least, the Judge has a reason to sentence an individual at the bottom of the guidelines.

PRISONS: Understanding prison rules, policies, healthcare and conditions from a former ex-con is very important when it comes to 8th Amendment cases. Lawsuits against guards, prisons and federal, state or local government agencies need an expert to show a jury what goes on inside a prison. Larry spent extensive time in the "hole" (SHU – Special Housing Unit) and can explain the damage that has on a person. Prison officials are notorious for cover-ups and Larry can expose the corruption and falsehoods associated with your case.

In 1998, more than 450,000 cases of child abuse were reported in the United States. In 2002, 2.6 million reports concerning the welfare of approximately 4.5 million children were made. Out of that report, 896,000 children were found to have been victims of abuse or neglect – an average of more than 2,450 children per day.

2008 American Academy of Pediatrics statistics show more than 2.5 million cases of child abuse and neglect are reported each year. Studies show that one in five girls and one in eight boys will be sexually abused before they are eighteen years old. About one in twenty children are abused each year. While this figure is shocking, what is more shocking is that this number only represents 10% of the actual cases of abuse which occurred.

The only way to protect your child is by arming them with knowledge. "Life Lessons" was designed to aid a parent, grandparent, guardian, teacher or anyone interested in protecting their loved one, in discussing an uncomfortable topic.
